Wallpaper Download [06]

Good Morning Folks!

This was to go up yesterday, so, apologies for being a day late.

At the end of January, @kevinouma & I drove down to Mbita, which is on the edge of Lake Victoria. This was a 4-day trip (2 of those were spent on the road) for some documentary work at Ngodhe Island. The assignment required that we spend the nights at Mbita and take a boat to the Island every morning.

The typical ride from mainland Mbita to Ngodhe Island takes about 45 minutes on one of the motorized boats. The waves can be mellow & calming on you or extremely unnerving & ‘treacherous’, depending on the number of passengers on board, the prevailing winds & the time of day. And yes, we were in the unenviable position of experiencing both scenarios.

Might I add that the boat was taking in quite a considerable amount of water which, according to our captain, was nothing to be worried about. He didn’t say it, it was clear from his lack of interest on the matter. Plus he threw us a bucket to scoop the water out.

But the great thing about being out in the water was getting to catch the fishermen dropping their nets out in the lake, like this one, which I’m glad to present as Wallpaper Download [06]. I’ve also shared a few more on Instagram. Drop by and have a look.
